Lauris Paulus

I've been captivated by the work of Swiss photographer and visual artist Lauris Paulus for the last 12 minutes (I've been awake for 14). His manipulations of high art, freeze-framed and rewound, stopped Google Reader in its tracks.

My knowledge of Paulus is limited to what little Google could translate. Nevertheless, there's a familiar eeriness to the temporal state he's caught in this series. Fluid but deliberate, his suggestion of art as a Moebius strip to be paused and tracked and decapitated with the efficiency of a VCR is as compelling as his identity is mysterious.
